Bread Pudding is an easy yet delicious dessert you can whip up at home without much effort. This is a great way to consume the bread crusts or leftover bread, which are often discarded due to their harder texture. For this recipe, you only need a few simple and cheap ingredients that are frequently used in baking. It is the perfect warm dessert to enjoy with your partner on a cold rainy movie night.
Ingredients (serves 2):
– 3 slices of bread
– Butter
– 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
– a handful of raisins
Custard mixture
– 2 cups of milk
– 2 eggs
– 50g of sugar
– A few drops of vanilla extract
Toppings (Optional)
– Fruits/ dried fruits
– A drizzle of honey
– Ice cream
Instructions:
Step 1
Spread butter around the inner surface of the baking dish that you will be baking your bread pudding in. Slice the bread into equal bite-sized pieces and place them in the baking dish with the raisins.
Step 2
Crack 2 eggs into a mixing bowl. Beat the eggs with a whisk.
Step 3
Continue to whisk gently while adding in the sugar, milk and vanilla extract to mix.
Step 4
Sieve the egg mixture and pour it evenly over the bread into the baking dish. Set aside for 15 minutes to let the bread absorb the mixture. Meanwhile, you can preheat the oven at 180 degrees C.
Step 5
Bake the bread pudding for 30-45 minutes, until the custard is set.
Step 6
Before serving, sprinkle some cinnamon powder over the bread pudding. You can also top with your favourite toppings like fruits or a scoop of ice cream.
