The year 2020 will always be remembered as the year that brought too little joy and took too much from all of us. Now at the beginning of 2021, many of the problems remain the same. But, the finish line seems to be within reach, and the planet is gradually finding its way back to normal.
It looks that we are finally getting an opportunity to get payback for all the attrition we had to endure. And is there any better way to get your batteries charged than by spending a bit of quality time in some of the famous luxury holiday destinations? Let’s take a look at a couple of places that should be on your radar.
1. Maldives
For decades now, the Indian Ocean has been known for its gorgeous climate, pearl blue waters, and a cluster of stunning yet idyllic islands. The Maldives is probably the best example of just how beautiful this corner of the world can be. So, if you are a fan of scenic blue lagoons, aquatics clubs, hot white-sand beaches, and tall swaying palms, this one is for you. The Maldives gives you a perfect feral Castaway-like experience while still offering all the commodities expected from one world-famous holiday destination.
2. St. Moritz, Swiss Alps
You want to go all classy? Try the Swiss Alps. The places like St. Moritz are where people like James Bond go to spend their vacations. Now, joking aside, the Swiss Alps are very cosmopolitan and as stunning as it gets all year round. If you come by during winter, you will get an opportunity to learn skiing and try other winter sports. Warmer months will allow you to enjoy the beautiful lake St. Moritz, beautiful Alp castles, mountain hikes, and exciting bike trails. Great food and polite hosts are at your disposal 24/7.
3. Yachting across the Mediterranean
Yeah, why would you limit yourself to only one location when you can simply look for some yachts for charter, pick a region you want to visit, and let the trained crew handle the rest. When you think about it, this is the ultimate expression of decadence your soul desperately needs after one year of imprisonment. Fortunately enough, the Mediterranean coast is riddled with countries like Croatia and Montenegro that are stunning, not overly restrictive (COVID-19), and still not worn out by westerners.
4. Dubai
Dubai it’s a city that’s very hard to find anywhere else in the world. A couple of decades ago, this place was nothing but a bunch of shifting sand dunes. Today, Dubai is the crown jewel of the Middle East and standing like an inexhaustible oasis of activities loaded with gigantic shopping malls, restaurants, world-class nightlife, and elaborate waterparks. And yet, the Arab culture is sprinkled all over this urban chaos giving Dubai much-needed flavor and saving it from being bland. Riding camels and shopping Channel? Yeah, why not.
5. Thailand
When talking about Thailand, the first things that cross everyone’s minds are idyllic tropical islands like Phuket, Koh Samui, and Krabi. And yes, if you are traveling to Thailand, you definitely want to spend some time there – it will charge your batteries and prepare you for the challenges ahead. But narrowing down Thailand to a couple of beaches is a sin. For instance, the capital Bangkok is a place of endless restaurants, night clubs, historical palaces and temples, beautiful canals, traditional markets, and so much more.
6. Ol Jogi, Kenya
And, for the very end, we saved something completely unique. We had our yacht cruises, tropical islands, and skiing winter resorts. Sunsets, landscapes, and wildlife in Africa are something completely different. You have to experience this at least once in your lifetime. And the best way to do that is at Ol Jogi, a privately owned resort located in Kenya. This stunning establishment successfully combines comfort, luxury, and culinary excellence with beautiful nature, stunning wildlife (e.g., black rhinos) and easily makes one of the most beautiful areas on the planet.
We hope these few tips gave you some directions about your future vacation destinations or sparked some ideas of your own. Take a look at them, do your Google search, and see what suits your taste the best. The most important thing is to finally do something good for yourself. The year behind us was exhausting in every possible sense. It’s time for a bit of luxury payback.
